Fried Rice Recipe
Fried rice was originally an interesting dish that make use of leftover, day-old rice and other scraps left over from earlier meals such as leftover meat, vegetables as well as sauces. Chopped onions or other types of herbs are added to enhance or mask the overall flavor.
However, fried rice has become so popular that there are now so many different types of recipes with their own specific list of ingredients. The basic ingredient for cooking fried rice is cooked rice but you're free to experiement with all kinds of meat, seafood, and vegetables. Fried rice is best cooked with a wok but don't worry if you don't have one, a skillet will do too.
Ingredients:
- 5 cups rice, cooked and cooled
- 6 oz shrimp, cooked
- 8 oz package boiled ham, 1 inch slivers
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 3 green onions, green only and minced
- 2 oz snow peas, strung and shredded
- 1 cup head lettuce, shredded
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
Instructions:
1. To cook the omelette, heat the wok on medium heat and add in 1 teaspoon of sesame oil.
2. Pour in the beaten eggs and life the wok off heat. Swirl the egg around the wok so that the eggs are cooked in a thin layer.
3. When the eggs are set, flip over to cook the other side. Remove the cooked omelette from the wok and place it on a cutting board. When cool, cut it into 1 inch long, 1/4 inch shreds.
4. Heat the wok again and add in 2 tablespoons of oil. Be sure to swirl up sides of the wok.
5. Add in the rie, ham, shrimp, celery, green onion and lettuce then stir fry for 5 minutes.
6. Pour in the soy sauce and oyster sauce. Stir and mix well then toss in the egg and stir again.
7. Serve and enjoy!
